Texas Rangers transactions: John King has been added to the active roster and the 40 man roster, the team announced today. To make room for King on the active roster, the Rangers have designated infielder Yadiel Rivera for assignment.
King, who turns 26 in ten days, is a lefthanded pitcher who was a 10th round draft pick of the Rangers in 2017 out of the University of Houston. King did not pitch as a professional until late in 2018, due to needing Tommy John surgery, but he impressed in the Instructional League in 2018, and then had a successful 2019 campaign where he started in low-A Hickory and after five games moved up to high-A Down East.
