Nashville got rained out today, which is probably a blessing for a squad that has had its pitching staff raided by a Texas Rangers team seeking pitching reinforcements, but the other three affiliates all had notable pitching performances today.
John King went 7 innings for Hickory today, allowing 2 runs on 9 hits, walking no one and striking out 5, dropping his ERA on the year to 2.86. The 24 year old lefty is in his first full season back after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2017 after being drafted, so Texas will want to be careful with him, but given his age and early success, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him in Down East before too long.
