Texas Rangers outfielder/first baseman Joey Gallo was lifted from today’s game in the top of the eighth inning with a sprained left ankle. The injury was suffered when he was running out a grounder in front of the plate in the sixth inning, but he stayed in the game initially. He was replaced by Ryan Rua.
Outfielder Scott Heineman has also been removed from the game for the AAA Round Rock Express, presumably in anticipation of the possibility that Gallo could need to go on the disabled list. Heineman, a righthanded hitter who can play all three outfield positions, is not on the 40 man roster, but there is currently a spot open after the trade of Jesse Chavez.
