Joey Gallo has back-to-back seasons with 40 home runs. What does he need to do to become a franchise player?

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- The Joey Gallo paradox was on full display Tuesday night.

In the span of his first two at-bats, Gallo became just the ninth player in history to have a pair of 40-homer seasons before the age of 25 and also became just the sixth player to ever pair 40 homers and 200 strikeouts in the same season.

Gallo's third-inning homer was the only run in the Rangers' 4-1 loss to Los Angeles. His evening helps explain who he is as he approaches his 25th birthday in November. He remains an all-or-nothing offensive player.
