The Texas Rangers will have Joe Palumbo as their starting pitcher on Monday, manager Chris Woodward announced today. The lefty is currently in AAA Nashville, and would be recalled to pitch the opener of a three game set in Seattle.
Adrian Sampson, who has been working out of the bullpen, will start on Tuesday, so Jesse Chavez, who has been in the rotation, will move to the pen. It remains to be seen how Texas will open up a 25 man roster spot for Palumbo. Phillips Valdez, Taylor Guerrieri and Kyle Bird are all relievers who could be sent down, but with Ronald Guzman seeing less and less playing time of late, Texas could send him down in order to have an 8 man bullpen.
