Texas Rangers relief pitcher Jesse Chavez has a bone spur in his elbow that is expected to require surgery, per the beat guys on Twitter. That likely means that Chavez will be done for the 2019 season.
Chavez, after an awful start to the year, did solid work from May until he landed on the injured list in August. He is on a two year deal, and this is the sort of thing where he should be expected to be back to normal for spring training in 2020.
The biggest potential impact this has is that Chavez can be shifted to the 60 day injured list, which would free up a 40 man roster spot.
