ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Still buzzing over being elected to the AL All-Star team, Hunter Pence on Friday tested out his strained groin by running the bases for the first time in 10 days in hopes of getting back on the active roster.
And while adrenaline is a heck of a drug, even it has limitations.
Pence said the groin is improved but acknowledged he didn’t run at 100 percent. It’s possible his recovery could last into the coming week, manager Chris Woodward said. The Rangers must decide if a game against Tampa Bay, even with control of the wild card race at stake, is worth the risk of a potential setback.
