HOUSTON -- At the game’s biggest moment, the Rangers asked their best reliever to retire Houston’s best hitter.
That’s the way it is supposed to be, right?
In the case of the Rangers on Tuesday, though, it was the first time this season and the first time since Matt Bush inherited the closer’s role that manager Jeff Banister asked him to go more than just the final three outs of the game to finish off a save.
And though it all worked out -- Bush struck out Jose Altuve to end the eighth, then finished off the ninth in a 4-2 win -- it wasn’t such an easy decision at which to arrive.
