SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Texas Rangers left-hander Martin Perez wowed a collection of major-league scouts with his performance in a "B'' game on Sunday morning.
Perez threw 38 pitches in three scoreless innings against the Chicago White Sox, whose lineup included only two players with major-league experience. The scouts were more impressed with the pitches than the result.
Martin hit 94 mph with sinking movement on the fastball. His delivery was "free and easy,'' in the view of a scout with a National League club.
