Emily Jones can’t remember exactly when the post-game Powerade showers became part of the Rangers' ritual after home wins. But she is quite certain it was Elvis Andrus who instigated them. Just as she also identifies Andrus as the brains behind the showers’ predecessor, the shaving cream pie to the face.
She believes Andrus’ mischievous side surfaced in his rookie season, 2009. His target of choice was team leader Michael Young, who played alongside him at third base.
What Jones does know is that the showers are raining more frequently this season as the Rangers entered the weekend series against the Boston Red Sox, winners in 26 of 37 games at Globe Life Park.
