I got it wrong again. And I'll probably continue to do so for as long as I am fortunate to have the privilege of voting for enshrinement in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
It's an impossible task to get "right."
I can live with being "wrong" on this. I've been wrong-er. In an act of omission I'll never fully live down - and shouldn't - I did, after all, leave Dustin Pedroia entirely off an MVP ballot the year he won.
Back to the Hall. No matter how you slice and dice the numbers, the accomplishments and, yes, the dreaded "character," everybody is going to have their own individual definition of what constitutes a Hall of Famer.
