The Texas Rangers' ended their stay at the winter meetings on Thursday with three additions and one subtraction.
Houston paid $100,000 to pluck outfielder-pitcher Anthony Gose from the Rangers in the major-league draft. Gose must remain on the Astros' major-league roster all season or be put on waivers and offered to the Rangers for $50,000 if he clears.
Gose switched to pitching in the Detroit system last year, and the Astros will look at him as a reliever. Kevin Goldstein, special assistant to the general manager for player development, told reporters in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., that the Astros believed Gose had the best arm of all pitchers available in the draft.
