Lance Lynn isn't exactly Santa Claus, but he comes to town bearing a big ol' bag of gifts, nonetheless.
To wit:
Besides keeping the Rangers' kids down on the farm where they belong, at least for now, Lynn's presence allows Edinson Volquez and Drew Smyly to take a giant step back in the rotation. Two would be better.
Lynn's three-year, $30 million salary will be extremely attractive at the trade deadline if he's pitching well and the Rangers are in the tank. Contenders aren't as interested in rentals anymore. Lynn's contract is more than reasonable if he performs like he did for the Yankees last season.
