ARLINGTON -- Rangers right-hander A.J. Griffin will not start Saturday as scheduled against the Royals. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to Tuesday. The move comes due to inflammation in Griffin's left ankle, caused by gout.
A corresponding roster move hasn't been announced yet, and Saturday's new starter will also be announced later. Griffin is eligible to return April 28.
Griffin is 2-0 this season, with a 4.11 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. Saturday's game will be the third in a four-game series against the Royals.
