The Texas Rangers have activated Jon Gray from the 15 day injured list, the team announced today. To make room for Gray on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Gerson Garabito to AAA Round Rock.
Gray was discussed as a potential option to start this weekend against the Giants. He’s not starting, but given he has been activated, it would suggest he could be an option out of the pen over the next two days. Given that today’s starter, Andrew Heaney, has issues going deep into games, Bruce Bochy could be looking at bringing in the righty Gray behind the lefty Heaney to cover the middle innings.
