CHICAGO - This is how bad it was: If Adrian Beltre, the Rangers’ Grand Poobah of Base Running Etiquette, had been watching from the dugout, he would have greeted himself with crossed arms and a scornful stare.
You know, the kind he usually reserves for Elvis Andrus.
“Oh, I would have gone crazy,” Beltre said. “It was a disaster.”
He was talking about being caught in the middle of a most bizarre triple play that sealed the Rangers fate in a 5-0 loss to Chicago Friday. The triple play, the first against the Rangers in 25 years, didn’t lose the game for the Rangers, but it certainly eliminated any chance of a comeback.
