Gerrit Cole to undergo Tommy John surgery

New York Yankees pitcher Gerrit Cole will undergo Tommy John surgery on Tuesday, the team announced today. Cole will, as a result, be out for the 2025 season, as well as the beginning of the 2026 season.

We touched on this over the weekend, when the news first came out that Cole was getting an MRI on his elbow. The Yankees will also start the season without Luis Gil, who was the American League Rookie of the Year last year, due to a lat strain that is expected to sideline him until the middle of the year.
