SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Shin-Soo Choo was back Wednesday, and the good news is he can still hit after an anti-inflammatory shot in his sore left shoulder.
The bad news is it’s his second shot in seven months.
“I hate to say it,” Choo said, humble as ever, “but I’m getting old.”
And that’s not the half of it, unfortunately.
No matter how good his left shoulder feels, he’ll still be owed $21 million this season and $21 million next season, when he’ll turn 38.
And what that means is if the Rangers really want to live up to their rebuild credo, they’ll have to eat close to all of Choo’s contract.
