Former major league third baseman Sean Burroughs died yesterday, it has been announced. Burroughs was 43 years old, and reportedly collapsed while coaching his son’s little league game last night.
Sean Burroughs, the son of former Texas Ranger outfielder Jeff Burroughs, first appeared on the scene as a hero for the U.S. team in the Little League World Series. He was a first round draft pick (ninth overall) of the of the San Diego Padres in 1998 out of Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. If you are a certain age and were an online baseball fan around the turn of the century, you probably remember the talk about Burroughs, who was a top 10 prospect on the Baseball America each year from 2000 through 2002.
