Dave Henderson, former major league outfielder and, more recently, a broadcaster for the Seattle Mariners, has passed away, per reports. He was 57.
Henderson was a former first round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners whose career blossomed when he joined the Oakland A's as a free agent prior to the 1988 season. "Hendu" was a key part of the A's teams that won three straight A.L. pennants, and put up 20.6 bWAR from 1988-91 as the team's regular centerfielder.
While he was known for being a happy guy who always had a smile on his face on the field, even when things weren't going well, Henderson is perhaps best remembered for hitting the go-ahead home run for the BoSox in the top of the 9th inning of Game 5 of the ALCS in 1986.
