The biggest myth in baseball is the five-man rotation.
Teams hunt for their five starters like great white whales throughout the offseason. The biggest reason for the length of spring training is the five-man rotation. Countless headlines fill up countless newspapers (the ones, at least, that are still printed) about competition for the final spots in that five-man rotation.
And then, invariably, in the first month of the season, if not before, that plan is blown to smithereens.
The plain truth is the five-man rotation is long dead. The last time a team used five starters in a season was Seattle in 2003.
