ARLINGTON -- The Texas Rangers on Tuesday scored a significant success in player development, placing their Triple-A affiliate in Nashville on a four-year deal.
Nashville chose the Rangers over Washington, which will put its club in Fresno. Nashville is a more appealing setting because of its facilities and proximity.
Nashville's First Tennessee Park opened in 2015 and has a top-shelf infrastructure with batting cages, training and weight rooms.
In addition, it will be easier for the Rangers to bring in players when needed. There are 12 non-stop daily flights from Nashville to Dallas and only two from Fresno.
