The Rangers are treating this managerial search a little bit like somebody looking for love on Tinder.
They want a prosperous, long-term relationship, but are hooking up regularly for short-term flings.
If you are counting, the Rangers are now in double figures on either actual face-to-face interviews or long, get-to-know you phone calls for a replacement for Jeff Banister. Two sources confirmed Tuesday that Minnesota bench coach Derek Shelton has joined the candidates; another indicated Arizona Director of Player Development Mike Bell has become the second of former Ranger Buddy Bell’s sons to draw interest. The list is likely to expand to a baker’s dozen with an interview of Los Angeles Dodgers third base coach Chris Woodward sometime this week.
