Sam Dyson allowed five of the seven Boston Red Sox runs in the seventh inning Wednesday, spoiling a quality start by Martin Perez in the Texas Rangers’ x-x loss at Fenway Park.
Perez allowed one run in six innings and retired the first batter of the seventh before consecutive singles. Dyson, who had an encouraging outing Sunday, entered and failed to retire any of the seven batters he faced.
Boston left-hander Chris Sale failed in his bid for a ninth consecutive 10-strikeout game, having to settle for six. The Rangers got him for four runs on six hits.
