The Texas Rangers have placed pitcher Dane Dunning on the injured list with shoulder soreness, the team announced today. To replace Dunning on the active roster, the Rangers have activated pitcher Josh Sborz from the injured list.
Dunning moved from the rotation to the bullpen a couple of weeks ago, with the return of Max Scherzer to the major league rotation. Dunning last pitched on July 3, and the move is retroactive to July 4, so the soonest Dunning will be able to return is July 19, just after the All Star Break. It is not entirely clear as of yet whether Dunning is expected to miss more than just the minimum 15 days.
