Hudson Belinsky of Baseball America saw Dillon Tate's last start, and shared his thoughts
Dillon Tate, the Texas Rangers' first round pick (#4 overall) in the 2015 draft, has been eased into professional ball since signing, with the team wanting to be careful with him in the wake of him having his workload increased significantly in his junior year at UC-Santa Barbara.
Tate has made five appearances as a pro, two with Spokane and three with Hickory, with his outing on Thursday being the subject of a write-up by Baseball America's Hudson Belinsky.
Tate is going to be someone who will be interesting to watch next season, as he is considered to have top of the rotation potential, but because of the amount of time he spent in the bullpen in college, as well as the issues Belinsky talks about with his delivery, there are questions about his ability to handle a starter's workload at the professional level, with some feeling he may end up as a reliever long-term.
