ARLINGTON -- The Rangers did not defeat Yu Darvish Saturday night, but, then again, the fact he didn’t come close to sticking around long enough to be part of the decision wasn’t exactly Texas’ fault.
At least for the Rangers’ sake, Darvish -- facing Edinson Volquez in a curious matchup of once-upon-a-time great pitching hopes for Texas -- did not return to Globe Life Park as any sort of conquering hero. He arrived as damaged goods, attempting to establish some reason for his six-year $126 million contract that at this point seems like an incredible overspend by the Cubs.
