DeShields sent for MRI on his left hand

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers have sent outfielder Delino DeShields to get an MRI on his left hand after injuring it in his last at-bat on Friday night. DeShields injured it fouling off a pitch in the seventh inning and came into the clubhouse Saturday feeling significant discomfort.

The Rangers are awaiting the results of the MRI but are bracing for the possibility of DeShields being down for an extended period of time.

"Given the look of the hand and the feel, I don't think this will be a one-day deal," manager Jeff Banister said.

Carlos Tocci replaced DeShields in center on Saturday and is making his Major League debut.
