HOUSTON -- The Rangers have recalled outfielder Delino DeShields after he played just three games at Triple-A Round Rock. DeShields is replacing outfielder Ryan Rua, who went the 10-day disabled list with back spasms.
DeShields was sent to Round Rock on Tuesday to work on his offense, specifically his on-base percentage. He was hitting .204 at the time of his move to Round Rock. He went 2-for-12 before Rua's injury opened up a spot on the Major League roster.
The Rangers also optioned left-hander Brandon Mann to make room for Ariel Jurado, who is starting on Saturday.
