Derek Holland is scheduled to start a throwing program late next week, according to the beat guys on Twitter. Per Jeff Wilson, Holland will get an MRI in three weeks and, if that looks good, he will be cleared to start throwing off of a mound.
Holland went on the disabled list this April after throwing just a single inning in his first start, and this news suggests that it will likely be August, at the earliest, before he returns to the major leagues. It is the second straight injury-crippled season for Holland, who missed most of 2014 after undergoing microfracture surgery in January, 2014.
