Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will have hernia surgery tomorrow, the team announced. The surgery will end his season, though the timing of the surgery means that he should be at full strength for the start of spring training.
Seager was placed on the injured list on September 4 due to hip soreness, and it was not clear at the time how much time would be missed. This provides some clarification in regards to what he’s been dealing with, at least. It is unfortunate that he will not be back this year, though with the team out of the playoff hunt, it makes sense for him to do this now in order to maximize his recovery time.
