BOSTON -- Hindered by defensive struggles, the Rangers fell to the Red Sox, 4-2, in their final game of the series on Wednesday night, despite a solid comeback effort in the eighth inning.
Trouble started for the Rangers in the second inning, when Colon missed a pickoff throw to first base, allowing Xander Bogaerts to advance to second -- for Colon's first error in 40 games. Then, Eduardo Nunez popped up a fly ball that looked like an easy grab for Rougned Odor, but he fumbled the catch and Bogaerts scored. It was the first unearned run scored against Colon since May 9.
