Cole Winn, the Texas Rangers top pitching prospect who is current with AA Frisco, has been named the starting pitcher for the American League squad for the Futures Game on Sunday. The Futures Game starts at 2 p.m. Central on Sunday, and will be played at Coors Field. Pitcher Cole Ragans is also representing the Rangers on the A.L. team.
Starting for the National League team will be St. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Matthew Liberatore. Liberatore was taken by the Tampa Bay Rays one pick after the Rangers took Winn in the 2018 draft, and whether the Rangers should have opted for Liberatore or Winn has been the topic of much discussion the past three years.
