Cole Ragans needs 2nd Tommy John surgery

Cole Ragans, the Texas Rangers first round pick in 2016, who missed all of 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in March, 2018, will have to undergo a second Tommy John surgery after the transplanted graft didn’t hold, per Jeff Wilson on Twitter. That would likely keep him out until the second half of the 2020 season.

Really awful news, and another blow to the Rangers’ push to develop their own pitching. Ragans was very well regarded pre-injury, and was seen as having the sort of clean mechanics that make a pitcher less prone to injury.
