Cole, Kirby questionable for Opening Day

A pair of American League playoff contenders are facing the possibility of key starting pitchers being sidelined for the start of the 2025 season.

Seattle Mariners starter George Kirby has been shut down due right shoulder inflammation. Reports indicate that an MRI showed no structural damage, which is good news for the M’s, but Kirby will have to ramp back up again once he resumes throwing, and he is expected to start the season on the injured list.

The Mariners are looking to contend in 2025, with the strength of their team being their starting rotation, but they have done little this past offseason to add to an 85 win club.
