Texas Rangers pitcher Cole Hamels has been scratched from Thursday's start against the Chicago White Sox because of neck stiffness, the club announced.
Doug Fister, originally scheduled to start Friday, will start in place of Hamels for Thursday's 7:05 p.m. start in Chicago. The Rangers have not announced who will be Friday's starter.
Hamels is 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA in his last four starts. In those games, Hamels held right-handed hitters to a .171 average for 70 at-bats. Hamels won his only start against the White Sox last season, allowing two runs in 6 2/3 innings.
