Colby Lewis may be finished as a Texas Rangers pitcher, but he’s apparently not finished as a Texas Rangers. Per the beat guys on Twitter, Colby Lewis and the Rangers are discussing Lewis joining the Rangers organization as a special assistant to the general manager.

Lewis, 38, was a first round draft pick of the Rangers way back in 1999, and after struggling with injuries and ineffectiveness here, he went over to Japan in 2008 and 2009 and had success pitching for the Hiroshima Carp. He returned to the United States and signed with the Rangers in 2010, and ended up staying with the team through the 2016 season.
