ARLINGTON -- The most significant moment to date for Chris Woodward, the Rangers' rookie manager, will come on Feb. 18.
The Rangers will have their first full-squad spring training workout on that day in Surprise, Ariz. Woodward will starting making his impression on the club as a group.
Spring training is not a holiday in the sun. It is the most intensive teaching period of the season.
A well-run camp sets a good tone for the season. A manager runs the risk of losing the team with a chaotic camp.
"We want it to be as efficient as possible so that we can get twice the work done in half the time," Woodward said.
