Chris Seise out for the year after surgery

Chris Seise, the Texas Rangers’ second overall selection in the 2017 MLB draft, taken 29th overall, will miss the 2018 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder, the team announced yesterday. Seise is a righthanding throwing shortstop, and the surgery was reportedly to “clean out” the rotator cuff.

This is disappointing news, obviously. Seise is considered a true shortstop who is expected to stay at the position long-term, and had a nice professional debut, slashing .336/.395/.509 in 27 games in the Arizona Rookie League before moving up to the Northwest League, where he slashed .
