Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis finally got a hit this season, breaking a record (for position players) streak of 54 consecutive at bats without a hit, dating back to September 14, 2018.
Davis, you may recall, is a former Texas Ranger who burst on the scene his rookie year, but then struggled with contact issues before being dealt to Baltimore in July, 2011, along with Tommy Hunter in the deal that brought Koji Uehara to Texas. Davis had several solid seasons with the Orioles, and then after the 2015 season, signed a 7 year, $161 million deal.
