DETROIT -- Shin-Soo Choo hit a leadoff home run on the second pitch of Friday's night game against the Tigers at Comerica Park, extending his on-base streak to 45 games. That is the longest streak in the Majors this season, and one game away from tying Julio Franco for the longest in franchise history.
Choo, who started at DH as he has been dealing with discomfort in his right quadriceps, has been one of the hottest bats in the Rangers' lineup of late. He entered Thursday's game batting .335 during his on-base streak.
Choo's 17th home run of the season traveled an estimated 436 feet to center field, per Statcast™, and had an exit velocity of 104.
