ARLINGTON -- Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo was hit by a pitch in his first plate appearance on Wednesday night against Padres starter Clayton Richard, extending his on-base streak to 40 straight games.
That ties for the longest such streak in the Majors this season. Odubel Herrera of the Phillies also reached base in 40 straight from March 30 to May 19.
Choo's streak is the fourth longest in Rangers history for one season. The record is 46 by Julio Franco set in 1993.
