Chirinos homers, but Rangers fall late to A's

ARLINGTON -- Marcus Semien hit a first-pitch leadoff home run in the ninth inning off Rangers reliever Kevin Jepsen to spark a six-run rally that sent the Rangers to a 9-3 loss to the A's on Monday night at Globe Life Park.

Jepsen entered in the eighth with the game tied at 3 and retired Jonathan Lucroy on a fly ball to leave the go-ahead run stranded at third. But he threw a first-pitch fastball to Semien and he hit into the left-field seats to give the Athletics a 4-3 lead.
