Chapman to the BoSox, per reports

Aroldis Chapman and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a one year, $10.75 million deal, per reports.

Chapman, who turns 37 in February, has reached that vagabond stage of a quality reliever’s career where he’s still good enough to get guaranteed deals for a nice chunk of money, but only for one year at a time. You may recall that he was acquired from the Kansas City Royals in 2023 by the Texas Rangers for a minor league lefthanded pitcher and an outfielder in the Dominican Summer League. Chapman went on to be a key part of the Texas Rangers bullpen over the final three months of the season, as well as in the playoffs, which culminated in the Rangers winning their first World Series title.
