ARLINGTON - Joey Gallo now has two full weeks' worth of work as an everyday center fielder.
Time to ask the inevitable question: Could this be a long-term deal, like past 2019?
Because if so, it opens up a much easier path for Willie Calhoun to have a regular role, which in turn may give the Rangers an even more formidable lineup. And that's usually a good thing. All the Rangers have to answer are these issues: Is he a capable defensive center fielder, and is it worth the potential wear-and-tear on his body?
Of the former, they are pretty sure in the affirmative.
