The Chicago Cubs have signed catcher Carson Kelly to a two year deal, it was announced today. Reports indicate it is for $11.5 million.
Kelly, of course, was acquired by the Texas Rangers at the trade deadline last year, and had a quality month of August before falling off the cliff in September. While there was speculation that Kelly could be brought back to back up Jonah Heim in 2025, there never seemed to really be much actual heat around the speculation, and the Rangers ended up signing Kyle Higashioka to a two year, $13.5 million deal to back up Heim instead.
