Carlos Gomez flips ignition switch for Texas Rangers as man in the middle of everything

ARLINGTON - In the span of the game's first 10 minutes Friday, Carlos Gomez demonstrated all the ways he can help the Rangers.

In the top of the first he leaped above the wall in center field to take away a home run, then made another running catch in the left center gap. In the bottom, he blooped a ball into shallow center for a leadoff hit and stretched it to a double when Oakland's Rajai Davis played it passively. He ended that sequence by scoring with a nifty head-first slide after breaking from third upon Nomar Mazara making contact with a ground ball to first.
