Callaway suspended through 2022

Mickey Callaway, the (now former) pitching coach for the Anaheim Angels, has been suspended through the 2022 season, MLB announced today. Callaway can apply for reinstatement following the 2022 season.

Callaway, who had been suspended by the Angels on February 2, 2021, following a report from the Athletic about Callaway’s inappropriate sexual advances and harassment towards women media members, and additional women coming forward in the aftermath of the report, was fired by the Angels today after the announcement was made. The Angels reportedly were seeking to fire him for cause, and thus not owe him the remainder he was due under his contract, and felt they needed to wait for MLB to finish their investigation in order to be able to prevail legally in that regard.
