Bubba Thompson, the Texas Rangers’ first round pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, is in the Arizona Fall League trying to make up for lost time after an injury-plagued 2019 campaign for Down East. After going hitless on Wednesday, Thompson hit his first home run of the AFL season last night, off of Phillies pitcher JoJo Romero. Thompson was 0 for 4 on the day with 2 Ks.
Surprise had a particularly Ranger-heavy contingent yesterday. Jax Biggers, the infielder taken in the 2018 draft out of the University of Arkansas, played second base and was 0 for 3 with a walk and a K, while catcher Matt Whatley was 3 for 4 with a double.
