Alex Bregman and the Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms on a three year deal worth $120 million, with opt outs after each year, per multiple reports.
Bregman hit the free agent market this offseason after spending his entire career with the Houston Astros. The Astros offered him a six year, $168 million deal to return early on, but Bregman passed in search of a better deal. A guarantee of around 75% of what Houston offered over half the length, with opt outs, would seem to be an improvement.
The Red Sox have Rafael Devers at third base currently, but have been in on Bregman all offseason, with Boston manager Alex Cora, who was a coach with the Astros previously, reportedly pushing hard for the Red Sox to get Bregman.
